In honor of International Women's Day, images of cosmic "flowers" have been released—nebulae whose fragile beauty is born from the universe's most powerful gravitational forces.
As the world prepares for the spring holiday, astronomers offer a glimpse of flowers that will never wither. Roscosmos shared unique images of nebulae captured by astrophotographer Nikolai Vdovin. Featured objects include the soft pink "Tulip" in the Cygnus constellation and the massive "Rosette Nebula," spanning over 100 light-years in diameter. These celestial "blossoms" are sculpted by the intense radiation of young stars, causing hydrogen to glow in vivid hues. Behind the delicate appearance of these cosmic "Irises" and "Hearts" lie immense processes of star system formation and gravitational contraction.
