The Mary — Turkmenabat Section of the High-Speed Highway to be Opened in Turkmenistan

In 2026, the Mary — Turkmenabat section of the Ashgabat — Turkmenabat high-speed highway will be opened. Additionally, a new modern village and power station in Gyzylarbat, a residential complex in Turkmenbashi, and new buildings for the State Architecture and the State Pedagogical Institutes will be inaugurated. Significant investments will continue in infrastructure, roads, communications, water, gas, and electricity to improve living standards.
President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, during the expanded meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers held on Friday, announced that in 2026, the Mary — Turkmenabat section of the Ashgabat — Turkmenabat high-speed highway will be commissioned.
According to the official media of Turkmenistan, the Head of State noted that this year, a new modern village in the Gyzylarbat district of the Balkan province, a multipurpose power plant in the Gyzylarbat district, and a complex of residential buildings and structures in the Guwlymayak settlement of the Turkmenbashy district will be put into operation.
Furthermore, the new building complexes of the Turkmen State Architecture and Construction Institute and the Turkmen State Pedagogical Institute named after Seyitnazar Seydi will be ceremoniously opened.
As noted in the report, in 2026, significant funds will be allocated to the construction of highways, communication, water, gas, and electricity supply systems, as well as water and sewage treatment facilities, with the aim of improving the living conditions of the population.
The Head of State mentioned that several international events would be held in the country on the occasion of the year "Independent, permanently Neutral Turkmenistan — the land of fulfilled dreams on the wings of horses" and noted that he signed a Decree on the establishment of a state organizing committee to hold the planned events at a high level.
At the expanded meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, the results of the work carried out in the country in 2025 were summarized, and reports from the Deputy Chairmen of the Cabinet of Ministers, heads of some ministries, and regional governors (hyakims) were heard. The meeting also discussed the tasks ahead for the socio-economic development of the country in 2026, as well as matters regarding the appointment and dismissal of officials.
