Central Asia and the Republic of Korea discuss development of customs cooperation

On January 30, ambassadors of Central Asian countries discussed with the Commissioner of the Korean Customs Service ways to strengthen bilateral and regional customs cooperation. Turkmenistan actively contributes to this work.
On January 30, 2026, ambassadors of Central Asian countries, including Turkmenistan, participated in an official evening with the Commissioner of the Customs Service of the Republic of Korea, dedicated to strengthening bilateral and regional cooperation in the customs sector. This was reported by the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the Republic of Korea.
During the meeting, new directions of cooperation within the “Central Asia — Republic of Korea” format, information exchange, participation in international consultations and projects, as well as training programs to improve the skills and qualifications of specialists were discussed.
Turkmen Ambassador to the Republic of Korea, Begenç Durdyýew, noted the active participation of Turkmen specialists in the training programs of the Korean Customs Service and confirmed that effective cooperation between the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan and the Korean side will continue.
The strategic partnership between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Korea, established on February 7, 1992, currently covers the energy, shipbuilding, trade, healthcare, and cultural sectors. In 2025, direct air communication Ashgabat — Seoul — Ashgabat was launched.
