A Turkmen delegation led by the Deputy Minister of Finance and Economy, B. Yalakov, participated in the "Tax and Development" meeting held in Tokyo on March 2–3. The event took place within the framework of the "Platform for Collaboration on Tax," a joint initiative established by the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), and the United Nations (UN).
According to the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, the meeting was attended by representatives of international financial institutions, heads of finance and tax authorities from various countries, and international experts.
The primary objective of the meeting was to develop international cooperation in refining national tax policies, increasing the efficiency of tax systems, and supporting economic growth. During the event, special emphasis was placed on strengthening tax administration in developing countries, the effective use of financial resources, and creating a transparent economic environment.
Participants exchanged experiences on modernizing tax systems, improving tax administration through the use of digital technologies, and creating favorable conditions for economic growth.
