Young Weightlifters of Turkmenistan to Compete in the World Championships

Turkmenistan’s 9 young weightlifters are competing at the 2026 World Championships in Ismailia, Egypt. Fans are hoping for new big victories! 💪🏋️♀️🏋️♂️
The 2026 Junior World Weightlifting Championships have kicked off in Ismailia, Egypt. The roster of athletes who will represent the national team of Turkmenistan in this prestigious competition has been announced.
According to the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF), a total of nine athletes from Turkmenistan (five girls and four boys) will defend the country’s sporting honor in the competitions held at the sports complex.
National Team Roster: In the women's category, the following athletes will compete for gold medals:
- Ogulshat Amanova and Shabnam Kerimbayeva (up to 53 kg);
- Medine Amanova (up to 63 kg);
- Asal Kerimbayeva (up to 77 kg);
- Anamjan Rustamova (up to 86 kg).
In the men's national team, four athletes will showcase their strength:
- Didarbek Jumabayev (up to 79 kg);
- Yslam Akmyradow (up to 94 kg);
- Suleyman Jafarow (up to 110 kg);
- Saparbay Atajanov (over 110 kg).
It is worth noting that at last year’s World Championships held in Lima, Peru, the Turkmenistan team ranked 14th overall. The main success was achieved by Anamjan Rustamova in the 87 kg category, who won two gold medals in the snatch (141 kg) and the total (249 kg).
High results and new successes are expected from the Turkmen lifters at this year’s world championship as well.
