Canva strengthens its professional design and marketing toolkit by acquiring motion-animation startup Cavalry and AI-ad optimizer Mango AI.
Canva has announced the dual acquisition of two startups, Cavalry and Mango AI, to expand its capabilities in animation and marketing performance. UK-based Cavalry, a specialist in 2D motion animation, will be integrated into the Affinity suite to provide a complete professional ecosystem spanning photo, vector, layout, and now motion editing. Mango AI, founded by former Netflix data science executives, focuses on reinforcement learning to optimize video ad performance. Nirmal Govind joins Canva as its first Chief Algorithms Officer. These strategic moves underline Canva’s ambition to build a full-stack "Creative OS" for professional work, following its $4 billion annualized revenue milestone in 2025.
