Results of the First Four Months of the Year Discussed at the State Security Council of Turkmenistan

Turkmenistan’s State Security Council reviewed the results of military and law enforcement agencies for the first four months of 2026. The meeting focused on border security, digitalization, public order, and legal reforms. President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized strong organization of Victory Day celebrations and further improvement of social conditions for military personnel.
Yesterday, the President of Turkmenistan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Army General Serdar Berdimuhamedov, held a regular meeting of the State Security Council. During the meeting, the results of the work carried out by military and law enforcement agencies in January–April 2026 were summarized, and priority tasks for the future were identified.
First, Minister of Defense B. Gundogdyev spoke, providing information on the ongoing work to modernize the material and technical base of military units and increase the professional level of military personnel. After hearing the report, the Head of State reaffirmed the commitment to the country’s defensive Military Doctrine and instructed to organize the Victory Day celebrations on May 9 at a high level.
The following leaders also reported on the work performed since the beginning of the year:
- Prosecutor General B. Muhamedov, on monitoring compliance with the law and introducing digital methods into the system;
- Minister of Internal Affairs M. Hydyrow, on maintaining public order, road safety, and summer fire safety measures;
- Chairman of the Supreme Court B. Hojamgulyev, on improving the judicial system and strengthening law and order;
- Minister of National Security D. Meredov, on protecting state stability and implementing new technologies.
The Chairman of the State Border Service, I. Ilamanov, reported on ensuring the reliability of the borders. The Honorable President noted that the borders of Turkmenistan are "borders of friendship and brotherhood" and emphasized the importance of systematically improving the service conditions for border guards.
In the customs sector, the main focus was on digitalization and the modern equipment of customs points. The Chairman of the State Customs Service, M. Hudaykulyev, spoke about the significance of the work being done for the development of international trade relations.
Minister of Justice M. Taganow reported on measures to bring the country's legislative framework in line with modern requirements and provide legal assistance to the population. The Head of State particularly emphasized that newly adopted legal acts must fully comply with the Constitution.
At the end of the meeting, Serdar Berdimuhamedov confirmed that the social welfare of military personnel and their families would remain a priority of state policy. Concrete decisions were made to organize the activities of these structures, which are the guarantors of the country's security and the peaceful life of the people, at a modern level.
Concluding the meeting, the President wished the defenders of the Motherland success in their responsible service.
