
President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, during the expanded meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers held on Friday, stated that in 2025, a total of nearly 7 thousand new jobs were created in large and medium-sized enterprises.
"We have maintained the high growth rate of our economy. GDP growth reached 6.3%, including 1.8% in industry, 9.6% in trade, and 7% in agriculture. Investments increased by 6%," the Head of State noted. This was reported by the official media of Turkmenistan.
The President of Turkmenistan added that last year, 116 production and socio-cultural facilities were commissioned, along with residential buildings totaling 645 thousand square meters, funded by all sources of financing. He also mentioned that the construction of several major projects began, and the construction of the second phase of Arkadag city, the country's first "smart" city, continued.
During the meeting, the Head of State announced plans for 2026 to maintain the GDP growth rate at 6.3%, sustainably develop national economic sectors and regions, create about 5,300 new jobs by operating production plants at full capacity and building new ones, develop small and medium entrepreneurship, increase the private sector's share in GDP to 72.9%, and direct nearly 41.2 billion manats in total investments into the country's economy from all financing sources.
The expanded meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers summarized the results of the work carried out in the country in 2025 and heard reports from the Deputy Chairmen of the Cabinet of Ministers, heads of several ministries, and regional governors. Tasks for the socio-economic development of the country in 2026, as well as the appointment and dismissal of officials, were also discussed.
