Major projects in the field of water management and land reclamation will become one of the main directions for the development of Turkmenistan's agricultural sector in 2026. This was reported in the "Neutral Turkmenistan" newspaper published on Tuesday.
Priority areas include the "Altyn Asyr" Turkmen Lake, the construction of drainage and collector water systems, the building of a reservoir with a capacity of 90 million cubic meters, as well as the modernization of irrigation systems in all provinces of the country.
Furthermore, in the agricultural sector of Dashoguz province, plans include the installation of waterproof linings, the reconstruction of the Shasenem collector, and measures to increase the flow capacity of the Karakum River.
The implementation of these projects is aimed at improving the land reclamation condition of irrigated areas and the comprehensive restoration of agricultural lands.
The "Program for Socio-Economic Development and Investment of Turkmenistan in 2026" envisages increasing crop yields by introducing modern and water-saving technologies. Special attention is also paid to the development of livestock farming, increasing the numbers of large and small cattle and poultry, as well as the use of artificial intelligence technologies in agriculture.
As noted in the report, in 2026, the agricultural complex will continue to fulfill strategic tasks to ensure food security. Within the framework of the state program, special focus will be placed on the production of agricultural products, the implementation of eco-friendly solutions, and the gradual improvement of the land reclamation condition of the soil.
