
Yesterday, the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan hosted an international conference titled "Priority Directions of the Foreign Policy of Turkmenistan in the Year of 'Independent, eternally Neutral Turkmenistan – the Land of Prosperity with the Speed of a Stallion'" on the occasion of the Day of Diplomatic Workers of Turkmenistan. This was reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
As part of the conference, an exhibition dedicated to the professional holiday and harmonized with the motto of the year 2026 announced in Turkmenistan was organized in the foyer of the institute. The event was attended by heads, employees, and veterans of the diplomatic service of Turkmenistan, heads and representatives of diplomatic missions and international organizations accredited in the country, professors and students of the country's higher education institutions, as well as representatives of public organizations and the media.
During the conference, speakers included Rashid Meredov, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan; Kaha Imnadze, Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General and Head of the UN Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia; Dmitry Shlapachenko, UN Resident Coordinator in Turkmenistan; Arsen Avagyan, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenia to Turkmenistan; Stephen Conlon, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to Turkmenistan; and Eric Livny, Head of the Representative Office of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development in Turkmenistan.
In his speech, Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov noted that foreign policy based on the principles of permanent neutrality is aimed at forming a stable and fair system of international cooperation. It was also emphasized that Turkmenistan actively participates in the fields of energy and transport connectivity, environmental diplomacy, and the strengthening of international law by supporting the central role of the United Nations.
Participants of the conference noted the growing role of Turkmen diplomacy in the context of globalization, and its contribution to strengthening peace, trust, and mutually beneficial cooperation. It was emphasized that thanks to the support of the Head of State, the material and technical base of the diplomatic service is systematically improved, its infrastructure is modernized, and its personnel potential is strengthened.
At the conclusion of the conference, participants adopted an Address to the President of Turkmenistan.
On the occasion of the significant date, diplomas of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan were solemnly presented to young employees of the diplomatic service and distinguished final-year students of the Institute of International Relations for their active participation in the implementation of Turkmenistan's foreign policy strategy.
