A round table meeting was held at the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the Republic of Azerbaijan with the participation of deputies of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan and a representative of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences. This was reported on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
During the event, the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's permanent Neutrality, widely celebrated in 2025, and its significance in strengthening international peace, trust, and sustainable development were discussed. Participants noted that the legal status of permanent Neutrality, recognized by the United Nations through relevant Resolutions, serves as an effective tool of Turkmenistan's peace-loving foreign policy.
It was also noted that the declaration of 2026 in Turkmenistan as the year of "Independent, eternally Neutral Turkmenistan – the land of prosperity with the speed of a stallion" demonstrates the country's commitment to historical heritage, national values, and peaceful and sustainable development. The special role of the Turkmen horse as a symbol of statehood, as well as the continuity of traditions and spiritual values, was emphasized.
During the round table, special attention was paid to the international initiatives put forward by Turkmenistan within the framework of the United Nations. In particular, the initiative of the President of Turkmenistan proposed at the 80th session of the UN General Assembly to declare 2028 as the International Year of International Law was noted as an important contribution aimed at strengthening the legal foundations of international relations.
At the end of the meeting, the participants emphasized the importance of further developing Turkmen-Azerbaijani inter-parliamentary and scientific-expert cooperation.
