On the eve of World No Tobacco Day, an interactive workshop titled "Tobacco-Free Generation: Youth as a Driving Force for Change" was held in our capital. This event was dedicated to a global ecological and social issue: countering the promotional tricks of the tobacco industry aimed at the younger generation.
The workshop was attended by active students who are members of the "Youth4Health" youth network of the Myrat Garryev State Medical University of Turkmenistan. Instead of traditional general classes and lectures, the organizers utilized modern interactive methods. Through group work, lively discussions, and specific role-playing scenarios, the future doctors detailed and analyzed the main causes leading people to harmful habits, including factors such as stress and social pressure.
In the practical part of the work, the student groups independently developed their own mini-campaigns, unique slogans, and effective communication strategies for their peers in order to widely promote a healthy lifestyle.
The organizers emphasized that young people should not merely be listeners, but active leaders in the public health system. This creative initiative created broad opportunities to study the new proposals and forward-thinking ideas of the students. These new approaches developed by the youth will be widely used in the future to improve state strategies and national programs against tobacco in Turkmenistan.
