"Turkmenistan is a beautiful country, and the stadium here is magnificent," said Jorge Jesus, the head coach of the Saudi Arabian team Al-Nassr, at the press conference following the first leg of the AFC Champions League 2 round of 16 match against the Turkmen team Arkadag.
"I would like to express my gratitude to all the participants of the match and the fans who came to the stadium. You have a very beautiful country, hospitable people, and a wonderful stadium with all the conditions for football. I am very glad that the match ended in our favor," noted Jorge Jesus.
The 71-year-old Portuguese specialist answered a question about Al-Nassr's chances of winning the AFC Champions League 2 as follows:
"Every game is important for us; we always strive to play at a high level. One of Al-Nassr's main goals is to win the AFC Champions League 2 competition. However, our advancement to the next round is not yet fully guaranteed; we have a return match ahead in Riyadh. We respect our opponent and are preparing thoroughly for the next meeting."
Given that the first match was successful for the Saudi Arabian team, many journalists were interested in the question: "In the return match to be held in Riyadh, will Al-Nassr play against Arkadag with the second-string squad again, or will the star players take the field?"
"I cannot guarantee anything or say in advance: will the second-string or the stars play in the return match? First of all, another match awaits us in the Saudi Arabian championship."
As reported, before the return match with Arkadag, Al-Nassr will face Al-Fateh on February 14 as part of the 22nd round of the Saudi Arabian championship.
At the press conference, Abdullah Al-Hamdan, who was selected as the man of the match and scored the only goal, also shared his impressions:
"I am grateful for the warm welcome shown to us in Turkmenistan. It was a very interesting and difficult game. But the most important thing is that we won. Arkadag is a very strong opponent. However, we have another game in Riyadh, and I hope it will also end in our favor," said the MVP winner, Abdullah Al-Hamdan.
