Ali Jumabayev, one of Turkmenistan's young tennis players, is preparing for another important test on the international stage. At 14 years of age, he will represent Turkmenistan for the first time at the international junior tournament "Roland-Garros Junior Series by Renault Qualification for West and Central Asia."
The regional qualifying stage will be held from August 17 to 22, 2026, in Almaty, Kazakhstan. This competition brings together the strongest young tennis players from Central and West Asia, and successful athletes will earn the right to compete in the final stage of the "Roland-Garros Junior Series" in Japan this October.
Ali Jumabayev was invited to this prestigious tournament due to his high rankings in international and Asian lists. The young tennis player's participation in such a high-level competition highlights his consistent progress and advanced preparation.
Despite his young age, Ali Jumabayev has already performed successfully at prestigious tournaments across various Asian countries, emerging as one of the most promising representatives of Turkmen tennis.
His first major international success came in October 2024 at the "ATF U14" Asian Junior Tennis Tournament in Doha, Qatar, where the Turkmen athlete became the champion in both singles and doubles categories.
In 2025, Ali performed successfully at the "ITF World Junior U14" tournament in Bahrain, managing to overcome strong opponents. That same year, he also achieved high results at an international tournament in Nonthaburi, Thailand, where athletes from 12 countries participated, capturing titles in both singles and doubles.
The young tennis player continued his successful performances in 2026. His effective performance at the qualifying tournament in Sri Lanka contributed to the Turkmenistan junior national team reaching the final stage of the Davis Cup pre-qualifying round for the first time.
Additionally, Ali Jumabayev won the men's national championship of Turkmenistan, earning the title of the youngest national champion in history.
The young athlete began his tennis journey at sports school No. 9 in the city of Turkmenabat, where he developed his foundational skills under the guidance of coach Babamyrat Mamatrasulov. Currently, he trains in Ashgabat under the supervision of coaches Meylis Orazmuhammedow and Yury Rogussky.
The "Roland-Garros Junior Series" qualifying stage in Almaty will serve not only as a new experience for Ali Jumabayev, but also as a crucial step toward one of the world's most prestigious junior tennis tournaments.
The successful performances of the young Turkmen athlete in international competitions demonstrate the development of tennis in our country and the emergence of new talents capable of competing on a global scale.
