Arkadag advances to the AFC Cup Playoffs

Football club “Arkadag” successfully completed the group stage of the AFC Cup, securing a hard-fought 1–0 victory yesterday over Bahrain’s “Al-Khaldiya.” This result allowed the Turkmen team to finish second in their group and qualify for the Round of 16 of the tournament.

According to the competition regulations, “Arkadag” will face one of the teams that finished first in the West Zone groups in the next round. The draw, which will determine the exact opponent, is scheduled for December 30. At present, the potential opponents for the Turkmen club are three strong regional teams: Saudi Arabia’s “Al-Nassr,” Oman’s “Al-Wasl,” and Jordan’s “Al-Hussein.”

In May, the Turkmen football club “Arkadag” became the champion of the AFC Challenge League 2024/25 season. In the final match, the team defeated Cambodia’s Preah Khan Reach Svay Rieng with a score of 2–1.
