Ashgabat Celebrates the 35th Anniversary of Uzbekistan's Independence

A ceremonial reception marking the 35th anniversary of Uzbekistan’s state independence was held on September 4 at Tashkent Park in Ashgabat. Representatives of government institutions, diplomatic missions, business circles, and the cultural and artistic community attended the event. Guests viewed exhibitions showcasing Uzbek national culture, traditional crafts and decorative arts, followed by musical performances and a concert. The event also highlighted the growing strategic partnership between Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. Bilateral trade has exceeded $1.2 billion, with the two sides aiming to increase it to $2 billion. 🤝🇹🇲🇺🇿

On September 4, a formal reception was held at the "Tashkent" park in Ashgabat on the occasion of the 35th anniversary of the state independence of the Republic of Uzbekistan. This was reported by Orient.tm.

The event was attended by representatives of government agencies, diplomatic missions, business circles, as well as figures of culture and art from Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.

During the celebration, exhibitions showcasing the national culture and traditions of the Uzbek people were organized. Guests were presented with samples of national applied arts, ceramic products, gold embroidery works, and textile goods with national patterns. The event also opened with performances on traditional Uzbek musical instruments.

In the official part, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Uzbekistan to Turkmenistan, Ravshanbek Alimov, delivered a speech, noting that independence is an essential condition for a people to independently determine their own destiny. He drew attention to the successes achieved by Uzbekistan over the past 35 years and the reforms implemented within the framework of the "New Uzbekistan" concept.

The speeches emphasized the creation of favorable conditions for mutual trust and sustainable development in Central Asia, as well as the development of strategic partnership between Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. It was noted that trade turnover between the two countries has exceeded 1.2 billion dollars, with the future objective of bringing this figure to 2 billion dollars.

Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, Hojamyrat Geldimyradow, also spoke, congratulating the people of Uzbekistan on the 35th anniversary of independence. He stated that in 2025, trade turnover between the two countries increased by approximately 60 percent, and in the first seven months of 2026, it grew by another 18 percent, reaching about 800 million dollars.

It was also emphasized that Uzbekistan ranks fourth in Turkmenistan's foreign trade turnover, and the launch of the "Shavat — Dashoguz" cross-border trade zone and the activities of the Business Council provide additional momentum to interregional cooperation between the two countries.

Following the official part of the event, a concert program featuring renowned pieces of Uzbek musical art was presented. The festive event continued with the serving of national dishes, including Uzbek pilaf.

The event held at the "Tashkent" park in Ashgabat served as a vivid testament to the friendly and fraternal relations, cultural affinity, and mutual respect between Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
