
The Specialized Chess and Draughts School of Ashgabat hosted a high-level stage of the Turkmenistan Chess Grand Prix. The competition, conducted in accordance with International Chess Federation (FIDE) standards, showcased the rapid development of the Turkmen chess school.
More than 270 chess players from across the country participated in the FIDE-rated tournament. In the "Open Category," Annamuhammet Hommadow achieved a perfect score, winning all 9 of his matches to take first place. Ali Ahmedow and Shahruh Turayew followed him on the podium.
In the women's division, representatives from the Lebap region showed great dominance. Aya Bayramowa and Mahri Agamyradowa from the 13th sports school of Turkmenabat won gold and silver medals, respectively, while Nurana Soyunowa from the "Küşt älemi" Academy took third place.
A highlight of the awards ceremony was the official unveiling of the new national team uniform for the Turkmenistan Chess Federation. Our athletes will wear these new kits while representing the country at the first Chess Olympiad of Turkic States, scheduled to take place in Astana, Kazakhstan, from May 13 to 18.
