
The Spanish Super Cup final was held in Saudi Arabia, where Barcelona defeated Real Madrid 3–2. Barcelona won this trophy for the second year in a row.
Four goals were scored in the first half, three of them during added time.
The score was opened in the 36th minute by Barcelona forward Raphinha. Real Madrid equalized thanks to Vinícius (45+2). Two minutes later Barcelona went ahead again with Robert Lewandowski’s goal, but soon the score was equalized once more by Gonzalo García.
The decisive score was set in the 73rd minute when Raphinha scored his second goal. At the end of the match Barcelona were left with ten men after Frenkie de Jong received a red card.
The Spanish Super Cup has been held since 1982. Barcelona holds the record with 16 titles. Real Madrid has won it 13 times, while Athletic and Deportivo each have 3 titles.
