Goldman Sachs Research and the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) have presented their forecasts for future Brent crude oil prices. According to their analyses, the average price per barrel in 2027 is projected to be $80 by Goldman Sachs and $84 by the EIA.

In an analysis published on October 16, 2026, Goldman Sachs Research expects Brent crude prices to reach $90 per barrel in December 2026 and average $80 throughout 2027. This forecast was also outlined in a report published by Investing.com on October 19.

The bank’s main forecast is based on the gradual recovery of oil supplies. However, potential disruptions in supply chains could cause oil prices to remain elevated for a longer period.

In its forecast published on October 6, 2026, the EIA projects the annual average price of Brent crude at $96 per barrel for 2026 and $84 for 2027. Thus, the difference between the two analytical institutions’ forecasts for 2027 amounts to $4 per barrel.

When assessing expert forecasts, it is important to bear in mind that they are not guaranteed market prices. In particular, the figures of $80 and $84 represent separate projections for a future period. It would be incorrect to compare them with current exchange prices and treat them as equivalent indicators.

When developing financial and production plans, it is more appropriate not to rely on a single forecast but to analyse several possible scenarios that take into account fluctuations in oil prices at different levels.
