A delegation led by the Chairperson of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan, D. Gulmanova, has begun a working visit to the city of Bukhara, Republic of Uzbekistan. According to the Mejlis, the primary purpose of the visit is to participate in the second Asian Women's Forum and the Dialogue of Women from Central Asian countries and the Republic of Azerbaijan.

On the first day of the visit, the Turkmen delegation attended the forum of women scientists titled "Women's Leadership in Science: Modern Issues, Innovative Solutions, and Scientific Cooperation." Speakers noted that this Dialogue has become an internationally significant platform for expanding the rights and opportunities of women.

In her speech, the Chairperson of the Mejlis highlighted Turkmenistan's efforts in this area, particularly the digitalization strategy:

  • Projects implemented jointly with the UN to increase women's interest in information technology (IT).
  • Ensuring the integration of Central Asian women into the global market through the digital economy.
  • Improving laws to strengthen the role of women in state administration and science within the country.

The Head of the National Parliament reminded that in 2026, Turkmenistan will chair the CIS, as well as the Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asian countries and Azerbaijan. In this regard, the following events are planned to be held in the "Avaza" National Tourist Zone next year:

  • International Women's Dialogue.
  • International conference on demographic issues.
  • Meeting of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly.

D. Gulmanova invited the participants of the Bukhara forum to take part in these celebratory events and share positive experiences regarding sustainable development.

The forum highly praised the achievements of Turkmen women scientists in the fields of biotechnology, ecology, and innovative technologies. It was also emphasized that supporting the engineering initiatives of young people is a fundamental pillar of sustainable development in the region.
