Chairman of the State Migration Service of Turkmenistan met with the Head of the UNHCR Regional Office

On March 17, 2026, the Chairman of the State Migration Service of Turkmenistan met with Mahir Safarli, the Head of the Regional Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).

During the meeting, it was noted that our country maintains active cooperation with the UN and its specialized agencies. The parties discussed the prospects and key areas of cooperation in the field of migration.

Furthermore, during the meeting, the guest noted the successful completion of the #IBELONG campaign to end statelessness in 2024 and emphasized that our country's experience in this regard serves as a model for other states. It was also highlighted that Turkmenistan has joined the new Global Alliance to End Statelessness and continues its productive cooperation in this direction.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties expressed confidence that the partnership would continue to develop harmoniously in the future and wished success in the significant work being carried out in this field.
