China installs the world’s first 20-megawatt offshore wind turbine

China has successfully installed the world’s first offshore wind turbine with a capacity of 20 megawatts in the coastal waters of Fujian Province. The project marks a major milestone in the development of offshore renewable energy.

The turbine features three 147-meter blades and is capable of generating around 80 million kilowatt-hours of electricity per year, enough to power approximately 40,000 households.
