Russia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan are discussing the expansion of the international transport corridors “East–West” and “North–South.” CIS Secretary General Sergey Lebedev reported this on Thursday at the Council of Permanent Representatives meeting in Minsk, according to BELTA.
Lebedev highlighted that Turkmenistan’s chairmanship in 2026 is based on its favorable geographical location and prioritizes the development of transit transport-logistics corridors and the energy sector.
Under its chairmanship, Turkmenistan will host the CIS Heads of State Summit on October 9, 2026, at the national tourist zone “Avaza” on the Caspian Sea coast.
