The construction of a 500/400 kV power transmission line along the Mary (Turkmenistan) – Mashhad (Iran) route is included in the "Program of Socio-Economic Development and Investment of Turkmenistan for 2026" and will become one of the key projects in the country's energy sector. This was reported in the "Neutral Turkmenistan" newspaper published on Tuesday.
The document also provides for the conversion of gas turbine units at state power plants located in Ahal, Balkan, Dashoguz, and Lebap regions to synchronous compensation mode. Simultaneously, the construction of a new power plant and power transmission systems in the Turkmenbashi district of the Balkan region, as well as the further development of the modern energy infrastructure of Arkadag city, is planned.
In the oil and gas sector, exploring for new oil and gas resources, increasing hydrocarbon reserves, and drilling production wells for the first stage of the "Galkynysh" field will remain priority areas in 2026.
As a major project of the industry, the implementation of the Serhetabat – Herat section, part of the Turkmenistan–Afghanistan–Pakistan–India (TAPI) gas pipeline and named "Arkadag’s White Path," is envisioned.
Additionally, in 2026, it is planned to complete the construction and commission several important transport infrastructure facilities in Turkmenistan.
