Consultation on Developing the National AI Strategy Held in Turkmenistan

On Thursday, March 5, a training seminar titled "National Artificial Intelligence Strategy: Developing Joint Solutions for Sustainable Development" was held at the "Archabil" Hotel in Ashgabat. Along with representatives of state institutions, ministries, sectoral departments, and public organizations of Turkmenistan, international experts from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) also participated in the seminar.

The workshop reviewed the possibilities of implementing artificial intelligence technologies in various sectors of Turkmenistan's economy and issues related to creating a legal framework in this field. Additionally, tasks were identified for determining the main directions of the relevant strategy, ensuring the security of the national database, and developing the necessary infrastructure.

In this regard, today, March 4, a training seminar on the basics of AI was held with the participation of international UNDP experts and the UNDP team in Turkmenistan. Furthermore, a meeting took place between the leadership of the Ministry of Communications and the Ministry of Finance and Economy of Turkmenistan and the UNDP team in Turkmenistan. During the meetings, views were exchanged on international experience in implementing AI technology and directions for mutual cooperation in this field.

It is worth noting that the National Artificial Intelligence Strategy is being developed in accordance with the State Program for the Development of the Digital Economy in Turkmenistan for 2026–2028. The relevant work will be carried out by the Ministry of Communications of Turkmenistan.
