A new digital system in international freight transport has been successfully tested between the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan and the State Customs Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The exchange of information regarding transit motor vehicles transported across the Caspian Sea has been established through the electronic TIR (eTIR) system. With the support of the International Road Transport Union (IRU), the first test shipments were successfully carried out. As part of this initiative, data exchange was tested for cargo truck transport dispatched from Azerbaijan through Turkmenistan to Uzbekistan, as well as from Turkmenistan through Azerbaijan to the Republic of Türkiye. This initiative is one of the first major projects for digital information exchange on transit transportation between the customs authorities of our two countries located along the vital transport corridor connecting Europe with Central Asia.
