
The President of Turkmenistan and Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Army General Serdar Berdimuhamedov, chaired an expanded off-site meeting of the State Security Council. The meeting reviewed the results of activities carried out by military and law enforcement bodies in 2025 and defined key tasks for the current year.
The Secretary of the State Security Council and Minister of Defence, B. Gundogdyyev, delivered the first report, outlining the implementation of the “Programme for the Development of the Armed Forces of Turkmenistan for 2022–2028,” modernization of the National Army’s material and technical base, and improvements in service and living conditions of military personnel.
The President emphasized the importance of continuing modernization efforts in 2026 and instructed thorough preparations for the 35th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s independence.
Reports were also delivered by the Prosecutor General, Minister of Internal Affairs, Chairman of the Supreme Court, Minister of National Security, Head of the State Border Service, Minister of Justice, Head of the State Customs Service, and Head of the State Migration Service.
During the meeting, personnel decisions were made, including the appointment of a new Head of the State Border Service. The newly appointed official took the oath of allegiance to the Motherland and the President.
In concluding remarks, the President congratulated all servicemen and law enforcement officers on the upcoming Defender of the Fatherland Day and signed decrees awarding state honors, military and special ranks.
