A formal reception was held today at the Yyldyz Hotel in Ashgabat to mark the 79th Independence Day of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and the 150th birth anniversary of the founder of the Pakistani state, Muhammad Ali Jinnah. An exhibition dedicated to the life and legacy of Quaid-i-Azam was also organized as part of the event.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Pakistan to Turkmenistan, Darya Faihal, expressed gratitude to President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the National Leader of the Turkmen People, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, for their contributions to strengthening bilateral relations based on mutual respect, shared cultural values, peace, and energy security. The Ambassador noted that Pakistan was the second country to recognize Turkmenistan’s sovereignty in 1992 and supported Turkmen Neutrality during the 1995 ECO Summit in Islamabad.
Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Rashid Meredov, delivered congratulatory remarks on behalf of Turkmenistan's leadership. He highlighted the deep historical significance of Turkmenistan’s Neutrality being officially recognized in Islamabad in March 1995 and noted Pakistan's co-sponsorship of the landmark UN General Assembly resolution in December of that year.
Meredov emphasized key infrastructure projects connecting the two nations, including the TAPI gas pipeline as well as the power transmission and fiber-optic communication lines along the Turkmenistan–Afghanistan–Pakistan route, expressing confidence in their continued progress.
