Garabogazkarbamid Plant: A Worthy Contribution to the National Economy

The Garabogazkarbamid Plant, built in the town of Garabogaz in Turkmenbashi District of Balkan Province and commissioned with the blessing of the Heroic Arkadag, makes a valuable contribution to the country’s economic development. Constructed by Japanese and Turkish partners under the order of the state concern «Turkmenkhimiya», this modern enterprise operates with high coordination, giving confidence that the goals set for the Year of «Independent, Everlasting Neutral Turkmenistan — Land of Mighty Horses» will be achieved.

Under the guidance of our esteemed President, the chemical industry, one of the priority areas of the national economy, is progressing confidently. The Garabogazkarbamid Plant includes a 10,000-ton ammonia storage, carbamide storage with a total capacity of 100,000 tons, seawater desalination and softening units, a powerful gas turbine generator for electricity, residential and cultural buildings, and other facilities.

The plant’s production capacity allows for the annual output of 1,155,000 tons of high-quality carbamide and 660,000 tons of ammonia. A 3-km-long conveyor system transports products from the plant to the seaport. The plant is designed to process up to 1 billion cubic meters of natural gas per year.

This modern industrial facility provides hundreds of permanent jobs for citizens and significantly contributes to the development of Turkmenistan’s chemical industry. The plant’s products are increasingly in demand both domestically and internationally.

In the first months of this year, the plant’s workforce achieved impressive results, producing 95,000 tons of carbamide, 25,000 tons above the planned target, achieving 136% growth. Over 40,000 tons of ammonia were also produced during the same period.

Agamyrat Shajaýew, head of the carbamide production unit, noted: «Our plant’s products are exported to the UAE, Turkey, Afghanistan, Singapore, and European countries. Commissioned in 2018, the plant contributes significantly to the development of our chemical industry, equipped with advanced innovative technologies, and its products are export-oriented».
