Griezmann Leaves Atletico for MLS: Signs with Orlando City

An era comes to an end as Antoine Griezmann officially confirms his departure from Atletico Madrid to fulfill his long-held "American Dream." The 35-year-old forward has signed a two-year contract with Orlando City as a free agent. Although his contract with Atletico was valid until 2027, the club respected his desire to experience MLS and allowed him to leave on good terms.

Griezmann, a massive fan of the NBA and American lifestyle, has been vocal about finishing his career in the United States for over a decade. He chose to stay in Madrid until the end of the season to compete for the Copa del Rey trophy against Real Sociedad. Orlando City secured the transfer through the MLS "Discovery List" rule, giving them priority rights to sign the French star. He follows in the footsteps of icons like Kaká who previously donned the Orlando jersey.
