As part of his working visit to Mary region, National Leader of the Turkmen People and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, made a working visit to neighboring Afghanistan, as reported on the "Watan" news program.

The Turkmen National Leader was warmly received by official delegation members from Turkmenistan and Afghanistan. During his visit, Hero Arkadag presented gifts to young Afghan children and took commemorative photographs with them at their request.

Bilateral talks were subsequently held between the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty and Abdul Ghani Baradar, Deputy Prime Minister of Afghanistan for Economic Affairs. Both sides emphasized that good-neighborly ties between the two nations are anchored in deep historical roots and shared cultural and spiritual values, highlighting the role of Turkmenistan's policy of permanent neutrality.

The discussions expanded into a broader meeting with both delegations to review key regional projects:

  • TAPI Gas Pipeline: Construction progress and future directions of the Turkmenistan–Afghanistan–Pakistan–India gas pipeline.

  • Power & Fiber Optics: Power transmission and fiber-optic communication lines along the Turkmenistan–Afghanistan–Pakistan route.

  • Transport & Logistics: Cooperation in regional transport corridors and infrastructure development.

Following the negotiations, verses from the Holy Quran were recited, and video footage depicting the "Arkadagyň Ak Ýoly" (Serhetabat–Herat gas pipeline section) was presented. The leaders attended a festive banquet (toý sadakasy) to mark the historic occasion.

Upon completing the visit, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov returned to Mary International Airport before departing for Ashgabat, where he was met by state officials.
