
On March 12, 2026, a round table discussion dedicated to developing cooperation in the fields of labor, social protection, and sustainable development was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan with the participation of representatives from the International Labour Organization (ILO). This was reported on the official website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
The event was attended by representatives of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan, relevant ministries and sectoral agencies, international organizations, and social partners.
During the meeting, priority areas of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the International Labour Organization were discussed. These include the improvement of labor legislation, the promotion of decent work principles, and the implementation of joint programs aimed at strengthening socially-oriented policies.
Deputy Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan M. Bashimova noted in her speech that Turkmenistan attaches great importance to developing cooperation with the International Labour Organization and consistently implements a state policy aimed at increasing the level of social protection for the population, ensuring decent working conditions, and expanding employment opportunities. It was also emphasized that partnership with the ILO facilitates the adoption of leading international practices and the strengthening of the national system of labor relations.
Special attention during the round table was given to the results of joint activities conducted in 2025, the implementation of joint projects aimed at promoting decent work principles, and the discussion of priority areas for cooperation in 2026.
Speakers highlighted Turkmenistan's consistent efforts to develop international cooperation in the socio-labor sphere and emphasized the importance of exchanging experience and expanding collaboration initiatives with the International Labour Organization.
