
On May 21, 2026, an official meeting was held between the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to Japan, A. Bayramov, and the Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Parliament of Japan, Eisuke Mori. According to the official website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, during the meeting, the parties highly appreciated the current state of political-diplomatic and interparliamentary relations between the two countries and exchanged views extensively on the future directions of further developing the cooperation.
During the conversation, Speaker E. Mori specifically emphasized that Turkmen-Japanese cooperation in political, trade-economic, and cultural-humanitarian fields has a sustainable development.
During the talks, the parties drew special attention to the historical significance of high-level visits in strengthening bilateral relations. In particular, it was noted that the historical visit of the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, to Japan in September 2022, as well as the productive visits of the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, to Tokyo in April and December 2025, served as a powerful impetus in bringing bilateral strategic partnership to new heights.
