
Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Nokerguly Atagulyyev reported at the regular meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers held in digital format on Friday that in January of this year, the State Commodity and Raw Materials Exchange of Turkmenistan (SCRMET) conducted 26 exchange trading sessions, during which 2,361 contracts were registered.
According to reports from Turkmenistan’s official media, the Vice-Premier also noted that, compared to the corresponding period of last year, the growth rate of trade turnover under the Ministry of Trade and Foreign Economic Relations amounted to 111.4 percent, while the growth rate of produced goods reached 100.1 percent.
According to the report, production under the Ministry of Textile Industry increased by 100.8 percent compared to the same period last year, including cotton yarn production at 100 percent, cotton fabric production at 102.4 percent, and leather goods production at 115.3 percent. The production plan of the State Association “Turkmenhaly” was fulfilled at 104.1 percent.
It was also noted at the meeting that in January 2026, the growth rate of work carried out by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry amounted to 116.3 percent, while under the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, the growth rate of agricultural and food production reached 106.5 percent, and the growth rate of industrial production amounted to 105.1 percent.
President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized the importance of continuing the development of trade, the textile industry and entrepreneurship in the country. In this regard, the Head of State instructed the Vice-Premier to intensify efforts to supply the country’s markets and retail outlets with food and other essential goods, as well as to consistently improve the activities of the State Commodity and Raw Materials Exchange.
