For the first time in Kazakhstan's history, an autonomous passenger air vehicle carrying a passenger successfully completed a flight in Astana. The milestone was officially announced by the Civil Aviation Committee of the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The demonstration flight of the EH216-S electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft was held in the capital's designated airspace as part of the "Games of the Future 2026" international competition.

According to the Ministry, the aircraft is designed to transport two passengers, reaching speeds of up to 130 kilometers per hour with a range of up to 35 kilometers.

In the initial phase of the project, Kazakhstan plans to introduce demonstration and tourist flights lasting 5 to 30 minutes over the country's natural, cultural, and historic landmarks. In the future, autonomous passenger air systems are expected to become an integral part of the broader transport infrastructure.

Additionally, the Ministry is exploring opportunities to utilize autonomous aviation systems for emergency medical services, pharmaceutical delivery, firefighting, and time-sensitive logistics operations.
