
In the city of Turkmenabat, a meeting was held between the Ambassador of Uzbekistan, Ravshanbek Alimov, and the Khyokim of Lebap region, Durdy Genjiyev. During the meeting, opportunities for expanding trade-economic and investment cooperation between the regions of Uzbekistan and Lebap region were discussed. This was reported by the "Dunyo" news agency.
The parties exchanged views on the implementation of previously signed cooperation agreements in trade-economic, scientific-technical, and cultural-humanitarian spheres between the khokimiyats of Surkhandarya and Kashkadarya regions and the khyakimlik of Lebap region.
These agreements were reached during the state visit of the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, to Uzbekistan on November 17, 2025.
During the meeting, an agreement was reached to prepare for the Third Turkmen-Uzbek Interregional Forum, as well as joint business forums in Bukhara and Turkmenabat with the participation of business circles from both countries.
Furthermore, the parties emphasized that the future establishment of the "Alat — Farap" border trade zone between Bukhara region and Lebap region will contribute to increasing the volume of mutual trade turnover, economic growth, and improving the standard of living for the population of border regions.
As part of the meeting with local entrepreneurs of the Lebap region, promising areas for further enhancing the effectiveness of interregional interaction, implementing industrial and agrotechnological cooperation projects, and intensifying trade relations were discussed.
Following the negotiations, the parties agreed to maintain regular contact with the Embassy of Uzbekistan and intensify joint efforts to expand cooperation between the regions of the two states.
