
On March 24, 2026, a meeting was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Rashid Meredov, and the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uganda, Henry Oryem Okello.
During the talks, the parties discussed the current state and prospects of Turkmen-Ugandan cooperation in political-diplomatic, trade-economic, as well as cultural-humanitarian fields.
The interlocutors noted with satisfaction the consistent development of bilateral relations, paying special attention to meetings and visits at the high and top levels. In this regard, the significance of the participation of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Uganda, Robinah Nabbanja, in the third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries held in the "Awaza" National Tourist Zone in August 2025, as well as the participation of the Ugandan delegation in other international events held in Turkmenistan in 2025, was emphasized.
Highlighting the importance of intensifying contacts between the foreign ministries of the two countries, the parties confirmed their mutual interest in holding the first round of political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the Republic of Uganda in Ashgabat in the second half of 2026.
Speaking about cooperation within international organizations, primarily the UN, the importance of coordinating the efforts of the two countries on issues of peace, security, and sustainable development was underlined.
Special attention was paid to the prospects for expanding trade and economic relations and activating business partnership, in particular, the issue of creating a platform for developing cooperation in agriculture, the oil and gas sector, and other areas.
The prospects for further development of cooperation in the fields of education, science, culture, sports, and tourism were also discussed.
Following the meeting, the parties confirmed their readiness to further expand mutually beneficial cooperation in all areas of mutual interest.
