Microsoft Updates Office 365 Icons

Microsoft has updated the icons for Office 365 — the largest visual redesign since 2018.

The company has released new icons for ten core Office 365 apps. This marks the biggest visual update since 2018.

The new design is more vibrant, modern, and focused on simplicity and accessibility.

Key changes:

• Focus on collaboration: According to Microsoft Vice President Jon Friedman, the design now emphasizes “connection, flow, and collaboration.”
• AI-inspired: The new icons incorporate elements from the visual identity of Copilot, the AI system integrated into Microsoft 365.
• Simplification: The icons now feature softer lines, smooth transitions, and vivid gradients. For example, the Word icon has been reduced from four lines to three to improve clarity at smaller sizes.

The updated icons will begin rolling out gradually over the coming weeks.
