Jose Mourinho is getting Benfica ready for a high-stakes showdown with Real Madrid in the Champions League knockout stage. The Lisbon club aims to replicate its recent success and prevent Madrid from winning head-to-head again.
The first match will take place on February 17 in Lisbon and will start at 01:00 Ashgabat time. Mourinho said: “I would really like to knock Real out of the Champions League, and then for Arbeloa to win La Liga and achieve even more. He’s a great guy and deserves it.”
Back in late January, Benfica shocked Real by winning 4:2 at home and advancing to the knockout round. The decisive moment came from goalkeeper Anatoliy Trubin, who scored at the very end of the match.
