National Team Prepares for a Key Match in the AFC Asian Cup 2027 Qualifiers

The Turkmenistan national football team is conducting a training camp in the capital ahead of a crucial match against Thailand as part of the AFC Asian Cup 2027 qualifying round. This was reported by the Football Federation of Turkmenistan.

Under the leadership of head coach Rovshen Meredov, training sessions are held twice daily. This preparation highlights the growing importance of the upcoming match.

Competing in Group D, the Turkmenistan national team currently holds first place in the standings with 12 points. Thailand also has 12 points, but our team leads due to tie-breaking criteria. In the first encounter between the two teams held at the "Ashgabat" Multi-purpose Stadium, Turkmenistan defeated its opponent with a score of 3-1.

Sri Lanka occupies third place with 6 points, while Chinese Taipei remains in fourth place with no points earned.

Turkmenistan will play its final and 6th match of the qualifying round away against Thailand on March 31, 2026.

It is worth noting that the winners of the six qualifying groups will earn the right to participate in the final stage of the AFC Asian Cup 2027, which will be held in Saudi Arabia.
