
The President of Turkmenistan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the country, Army General Serdar Berdimuhamedov, took part in the opening ceremony of a new complex of buildings and facilities of the Armed Forces’ military units located in the Sayat district of the Lebap velayat in the eastern part of the country.
The Head of State visited the soldiers’ dormitories and inspected their living conditions, including recreation rooms, a library featuring the works of Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, and a modern sports hall.
After that, the latest models of military equipment delivered to the units were demonstrated to President Serdar Berdimuhamedov. The Head of State emphasized that the modernization of the army is the “steel shield” of Neutral Turkmenistan.
The President also visited the new canteen and inquired about the quality of meals. Soldier-cooks assured that only natural products and traditional national dishes are used. The complex also includes a medical unit equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, a shopping center, and sports grounds.
Following the inspection of living conditions, the combat training phase took place. From an observation point at a training water facility, the President watched demonstration exercises during which servicemen, using special equipment, built a bridge across the water obstacle within a few minutes to ensure troop movement.
The final stage of the visit was a housewarming ceremony. President Serdar Berdimuhamedov visited a residential complex intended for officers’ families. The complex includes four modern four-story residential buildings with 50 apartments each, designed for a total of 200 families, as well as a shop, a children’s playground, and a parking area. The Head of State visited one of the families, talked with the serviceman’s children, and presented them with gifts.
At the end of the visit, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov handed over the keys to new service vehicles.
