A significant operational milestone has been achieved at the Magtymguly gas field within Block 1 in the Turkmen sector of the Caspian Sea. According to the Türkmenistan newspaper, production well A8 was successfully drilled to a depth of 4,981 meters. Following high-quality underground testing, an industrial flow exceeding 1.3 million cubic meters of natural gas and approximately 130 tons of gas condensate per day was obtained.
Work on the well's initial development stage continues, with production volumes expected to increase further. This achievement stems from operations conducted under a Production Sharing Agreement (PSA) between Malaysia's PETRONAS Carigali and the State Concern "Türkmennebit".
Over the past 30 years, robust infrastructure and a comprehensive legal framework have been established in the Turkmen sector and coastal zones of the Caspian Sea. Operations have included the construction of 5 modern offshore platforms and the drilling of nearly 40 exploration, assessment, and production wells. Joint efforts have yielded over 44 billion cubic meters of natural gas and 16 million tons of liquid hydrocarbons. Facilities built along the coast include a gas processing plant, a coastal gas terminal, and a marine structure assembly complex.
In the next phase of cooperation, large-scale projects will focus on developing Offshore Blocks 19 and 20, as well as conducting 2D seismic surveys across Blocks 11, 12, 13, and 14.
