New Season in the Turkmenistan Higher League: The Race for the Championship Begins
On April 4, the 2026 season of the Turkmenistan Higher League football championship officially kicks off. The country's eight strongest teams will compete for the title in an intense competition consisting of four rounds.
In the new football year, fans will be able to watch matches featuring teams such as "Arkadag," "Ahal," "Altyn Asyr," "Shagadam," "Nebitchi," "Ashgabat," "Merw," and "Kopetdag." The first half of the season will take place between April 4 and June 20, while the remaining two rounds will continue in the second half of the year.
On the opening day of the season, April 4, the following matches will take place:
- "Ahal" vs. "Kopetdag"
- "Shagadam" vs. "Nebitchi"
On April 5, the first round of the championship will conclude with games between "Arkadag" and "Merw," as well as "Altyn Asyr" and "Ashgabat."
Based on last season's results, the "Arkadag" team will attempt to defend its championship title. As a reminder, last year the silver medals went to "Ahal," and the bronze medals were secured by "Altyn Asyr." The new season is expected to further intensify the competition between the teams.
