On October 15, a new road bridge of major importance for the development of trade and transport links between the People’s Republic of China and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) was officially opened to traffic.
The bridge is 3 kilometres and 26 metres long and crosses the Yalu River. It connects the Chinese border city of Dandong with the DPRK city of Sinuiju. The new transport crossing is expected to help expand trade between the two countries and improve cross-border logistics.
The opening ceremony took place in Dandong and was attended by hundreds of people. As part of the celebrations, trucks decorated with the national flags of both countries and flowers began a ceremonial drive across the bridge.
The new bridge is an important infrastructure project designed to develop transport links between China and the DPRK, facilitate the movement of goods and strengthen trade cooperation between the two countries.
