Oleg Kononenko Becomes Head of the Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center

By the decision of the Russian State Corporation "Roscosmos," the famous cosmonaut Oleg Kononenko has been appointed to the position of Head of the Yu.A. Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center. This information was confirmed by the leadership of "Roscosmos."

In his new role, Kononenko will oversee the organization of flights to the International Space Station and the training of specialists for Russia's future orbital station. Plans to modernize the center's infrastructure are also in place.

Oleg Kononenko holds the world record for the total duration spent in space (more than 1,110 days). He has completed five space flights. Oleg Kononenko, who holds the title of Hero of Turkmenistan, was born in 1964 in the city of Turkmenabat.
