Large-scale efforts to develop the country’s underground resources, along with the consistent construction and commissioning of industrial processing enterprises, create broad opportunities for the dynamic growth of the chemical industry alongside other sectors. In recent years, effective work has been carried out to modernize industry enterprises, strengthen their material and technical base, and launch new production facilities equipped with modern technologies.
Last year, during a working visit by the esteemed President to our region, a blessing was given for the construction of a mineral fertilizer production complex at the S.A. Niyazov Turkmenabat Chemical Plant. This initiative boosted the enterprise’s economic performance, with plans to produce 350,000 tons of superphosphate and 100,000 tons of ammonium sulfate annually.
The plant is recognized as one of the country’s most powerful enterprises. This year marks 66 years since the start of its production activities. Its first production unit—a sulfuric acid facility—was commissioned in 1960. Until 1979, the enterprise was known as a superphosphate plant, later gaining the status of a chemical plant. During the years of independence, expanding the product range, upgrading production equipment, renovating outdated facilities, and constructing new ones have remained top priorities.
Today, the enterprise comprises nearly 30 production units and sections, covering a total area of more than 100 hectares. In recent years, successful efforts have been made to modernize production facilities and enhance product quality. In 2016, with the blessing of the Hero Arkadag, a new world-class sulfuric acid production unit was commissioned. Equipped with advanced Japanese technologies, the facility has an annual capacity of 500,000 tons, significantly boosting the plant’s output and product quality.
In addition to its main production units, auxiliary divisions—including maintenance and installation, mechanical and construction repairs, instrumentation and automation, heat and power supply, communications, electricity, water and wastewater systems, transport, rail services, healthcare, catering facilities, greenhouses, and central technical control—ensure uninterrupted operations.
According to the plant’s chief economist, Akmyrat Ovezov, the laying of the foundation stone for the new mineral fertilizer complex during the President’s visit became a landmark event and gave a strong impetus to the labor achievements of the production year marking the plant’s 65th anniversary. Last year, 151,600 tons of superphosphate were produced, while sulfuric acid output reached 311,600 tons. Every chemist has made a worthy contribution to these high achievements.
In the Era of the Revival of the New Epoch of the Powerful State, reliance on cutting-edge innovative technologies and the extensive adoption of digital systems in industry serve as guarantees of new economic progress. Digitalization of sectors, including industrial enterprises, is a key technological step defining future milestones.
