The ninth meeting of the Subcommittee on Humanitarian Cooperation was held in Beijing within the framework of the Turkmen-Chinese Intergovernmental Cooperation Committee. The meeting was co-chaired by the Deputy Minister of Culture of Turkmenistan, G.Sh. Myradalyyev, and the Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism of the People's Republic of China, Gao Zheng.
The parties discussed priority areas for humanitarian interaction and reaffirmed their mutual interest in further strengthening the traditional friendly relations between Turkmenistan and the People's Republic of China.
Education and Human Capital Development
Within the education sector, special attention was paid to academic accessibility, the quality of specialist training, and the further institutionalization of cooperation. According to data for the 2025–2026 academic year, more than 7,000 citizens of Turkmenistan are studying in higher education institutions in the PRC.
- The parties reviewed proposals to enhance the academic preparation of candidates and test preliminary assessment mechanisms.
- Prospects for expanding cooperation in training specialists in priority areas were discussed.
- The importance of developing joint projects, including the establishment of robust educational centers and joint laboratories, was noted.
Chinese Language and Academic Cooperation
Proposals for the professional development of Chinese language teachers and the joint preparation of teaching and methodological aids were considered. Interest was expressed in expanding participation in scientific conferences and olympiads, as well as supporting the publication of scientific articles.
Following the meeting, the parties agreed on the final formulations and signed the Protocol of the 9th Meeting, which consolidates further steps for the development of humanitarian and educational cooperation.
