
Turkmenistan holds one of the leading positions in terms of the number of foreign students studying in higher education institutions of the Russian Federation. According to the latest data from the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Russia, 57,060 citizens of Turkmenistan are currently pursuing their studies in the country.
According to a report by "Asia24.media," Turkmenistan ranks second globally in terms of the number of students studying in Russia, following only Kazakhstan. The top three are as follows:
The list continues with countries such as Uzbekistan, India, and Tajikistan. These figures demonstrate the ongoing attractiveness of the Russian education system both regionally and globally.
Overall, the number of international students in Russia increased by 7,000 over the past year, reaching 402,000 individuals from 179 countries. According to Mogilevsky, Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the RF, when all categories (including short-term courses) are considered, this figure could reach up to 425,000.
Under Russia's educational strategy, the number of foreign students is expected to increase by another 28% (approximately 93,000 people) over the next five years. The fact that Turkmen youth receive education in prestigious Russian universities will greatly contribute to the development of highly qualified specialists for various sectors of our country in the future.
