
On March 18, 2026, a round table dedicated to the 2026 motto — "Independent, Permanently Neutral Turkmenistan — Land of Horses Reaching Their Goal" was held at Chiba University. The event was organized by the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Japan in collaboration with the university's leadership, as reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
The event was attended by the President of Chiba University, Koutaro Yokote; the Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Japan, A. Bayramov; the Dean of the Graduate School of Medicine and Director of the Medical Research Institute, M. Takashi; Professor at the University of Tokyo and Honorary Professor at the Tokyo Institute of Science and Technology, H. Koinuma, who also serves as the Chairman of the Turkmen-Japanese Association for Scientific and Technical Cooperation; as well as professors and faculty members of the university.
During the speeches, participants emphasized the significance of the 2026 motto and highlighted Turkmenistan's achievements. They noted the cultural and historical value of Akhal-Teke horses, as well as the ongoing scientific research, international promotion, and efforts to enhance the prestige of these horses within the country.
The Ambassador of Turkmenistan highlighted the key aspects of the nation's foreign policy, priorities in state youth policy, and the global initiatives of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. Special attention was given to the preparations for the solemn celebration of the 35th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s Independence in 2026.
During the meeting, the parties discussed cooperation prospects in medicine, healthcare, and information technology. The Ambassador invited the university leadership to visit Turkmenistan and participate in the Medical Cluster project in Arkadag City.
Following the round table, participants visited the Research Institute of Disaster Medicine and the Inohana campus to learn about the primary research directions being conducted there.
