Russia and Uzbekistan are taking appropriate measures to organize the departure of their citizens from Iran through the territory of Turkmenistan due to restrictions imposed on air travel. This was reported by the diplomatic agencies of Russia and Uzbekistan on Monday.
The Russian Embassy in Iran announced that a procedure for departure by road via Turkmenistan has been developed for its citizens. Currently, the passage is only possible through the "Sarakhs" checkpoint on the Iran-Turkmenistan border. To coordinate the transit with the relevant Turkmen parties, Russian citizens must send a set of necessary documents to the Russian Embassy in Iran.
At the same time, Uzbekistan is also assisting its citizens in passing through Turkmenistan from Iran. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan reported that the country's Embassy in Ashgabat is cooperating with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and authorized agencies of Turkmenistan, and is also maintaining constant contact with the Uzbek diplomatic mission in Iran.
Uzbek embassy staff will meet citizens in the Sarakhs district on the Turkmen-Iranian border. To ensure safe and organized transit, vehicles from the diplomatic mission of Uzbekistan in Ashgabat will be utilized.
